Roboception wins Innovation Award Bavaria 2018

Roboception GmbH has been awarded the special prize in the start-up category of this year’s Bavarian Innovation Award. The Bavarian Innovation Award is presented every two years by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, the Bavarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of Bavarian Chambers of Trades to companies from Bavaria in recognition of outstanding innovative achievements.

The prize was awarded for Roboception’s innovative 3D stereo sensor rc_visard, which enables robots to generate time- and location-based data in real time and provides the systems with stable, seamless and infrastructure-free navigation.

“Autonomous navigation, real-time recognition and manipulation are key to the successful use of robots in flexible manufacturing. However, current solutions for robot vision generally do not meet today’s requirements,” explains Dr Michael Suppa, Managing Director of Roboception GmbH. “With our innovative sensor, we are therefore addressing one of the biggest challenges in the Industry 4.0 environment: thanks to the rc_visard, practically any robot system can be used flexibly.”

The sensor is compatible with all common robot systems and can be used intuitively by untrained personnel. It is a key component for the demand-driven use of robots in a wide range of applications. Supporting software modules allow users to adapt the sensor to their individual requirements, and custom application development for complex applications is also possible.

The Bavarian Innovation Award honours product and process innovations as well as innovative technology-oriented services that have already achieved initial market success or whose market success is foreseeable. The award recognises the central importance of innovation for the development of Bavarian companies and Bavaria as a business location as a whole.
