When lab automation specialist Biosero, Inc. was developing a mobile robot solution for the transportation of labware, they realized that the 5 cm positional repeatability of their mobile base was perfectly suitable for navigating the robot through the lab, however, it would not support the pick-and-place operations, which required a more precise localization accuracy of 1 mm (!).
