Kuka.SmartBinPicking

The 3D Vision Provider

Roboception is a 'Keystone Partner' in the KUKA.SmartBinPicking technology package

Roboception‘s 3D stereo hardware and software solutions are fully integrated with KUKA robot controllers and enable efficient and accurate robotic pick-and-place applications. Based on a combination of classical algorithms and machine learning in one system, users can easily overcome slow cycle times and excessive engineering
efforts with our detection solutions.

Unsorted Parts are No Challenge

The 3D stereo sensor detects and prioritizes the randomly arranged objects. This means that the software structures which component is best to pick and determines an optimal sequence. The integrated path planning calculates the collision-free path for bin picking, including all the angles to be picked – part by part from the bin. Using the fifth axis, the robot wrist, enables much more precise angles for gripping.

Advantages of the KUKA.SmartBinPicking

The combination of AI-based part recognition with precise and parallel path planning provides the integrator or end user with an automated solution in industrial production:

  • Easy configuration and operation via a web user interface
  • Very fast thanks to parallel, external path planning on the rc_cube IPC
  • Optmized path planning prevents collisions and makes the solution very effective
  • Intelligent AI-based object recognition with rc_reason CADMatch
