SilhouetteMatchAI is an AI-enabled advancement of the rc_reason SilhouetteMatch machine tending module. Similar to the classic module, it detects the position and orientation of relatively flat objects by matching a given scene to a previously taught template. However, thanks to the innovative AI component in this module, a base plane calibration is not required and more challenging use cases can be adressed:
Thanks to an AI-based segmentation, a highly robust detection is ensured even in case of mixed objects and/or un-sorted scenes. An (optional) overlap detection allows for a precise detection and safe picking of partly occluded parts, meaning that even unorganized piles can be handled.
Depending on scene/ object complexity for this AI-enabled handling of planar objects, coupling the module with an rc_randomdot projector is advisable.
