Roboception wins an iF DESIGN AWARD

Roboception is a winner of this year’s iF DESIGN AWARD, a world-renowned design prize. The winning product, Roboception’s 3D stereo sensor rc_visard, won in the discipline ‘Product’, in the ‘Industry/ Skilled Trade’ category. Each year, the world’s oldest independent design organization, Hannover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH, organizes the iF DESIGN AWARD.

We are very proud of this award“, says Dr. Michael Suppa, CEO of Roboception. “From the very beginning, it has been one of our goals to not only optimize our sensors in terms of functionality, but to make them visually attractive as well. In the end, they are typically mounted to our customer’s robots in very prominent positions.”

Developed in collaboration with industrial designer Tilo Wuesthoff (Pentenried), the rc_visard convinced the 63-member jury, made up of independent experts from all over the world, with its innovative functionalities, its compactness and its attractive design. The competition was fierce: over 6,400 entries were submitted from 54 countries in hopes of receiving the seal of quality.

This is the second iF AWARD for designer Tilo Wuesthoff, yet „I am particularly proud of this one“, he says. „The sensors were supposed to be as compact as possible. At the same time, aspects such as passive cooling, a mandatory requirement for components that will be mounted on robots, needed to be considered – a true challenge!”
